Cabaret Room: An Evening with Amy Allison, with Lee Feldman on piano, presented by TWEED, 7:00pm

November 6 2022, 7:00 pm-8:30 pm

$20

Amy Allison, based in New York City, is a critically acclaimed songwriter and singer noted for her originality, depth, humor and cult following. She began her performing career on the lower east side of Manhattan in the late ‘80’s fronting The Maudlins.

The daughter of jazz/blues artist Mose Allison, Amy has released 6 solo albums (The Maudlin Years, Sad Girl, No Frills Friend, Everything and Nothing Too, Sheffield Streets and Pop Tunes and the Setting Sun) and 3 collaborations- two as half of Parlor James, a duo formed with Lone Justice founder Ryan Hedgecock, (Dreadful Sorry, and Old Dreams), and one with David Scott of Scottish band the Pearlfishers (Amy Allison and David Scott- Turn Like the World Does). Her debut, The Maudlin Years was cited by Elvis Costello as one of the “top 500 essential albums” in Vanity Fair Magazine.

Amy had the great honor of having her song “Her Hair Was Red” featured on the Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell album, The Traveling Kind.

Laura Cantrell covered Amy’s song “The Whiskey Makes You Sweeter” on her debut album, Not the Tremblin’ Kind. Bob Dylan cited Amy when he played Laura’s version of the song on his recent whiskey-themed Theme Time Radio Hour. Amy has co-written other songs with Laura Cantrell including “Kitty Wells Dresses”, the title song to the critically acclaimed album.

Amy’s songs have been featured in films, most notably “Homefries” starring Drew Barrymore, “Virgin” starring Elizabeth Moss and “Mutant Aliens” by Bill Plympton.

Amy has contributed vocals to releases by The Silos, They Might Be Giants, Mudhoney, Neal Casal, The Pearlfishers, Mose Allison and others. Amy was featured on the critically acclaimed album Nursery Rhymes by Bill Wells & Friends.
